PECO Establishes New KOZ Electric Tariff Rider

PECO established a new KOZ electric tariff rider. New customers that otherwise qualify for Pennsylvania's Keystone Opportunity Zone incentives may be eligible for a reduced electric rate. The rider applies to new industrial and commercial High Tension (HT), Primary Distribution (PD) and General Service (GS) customers that move into a Keystone Opportunity Zone from out-of-state, as well as, to Pennsylvania companies not currently served by PECO that move into a KOZ and meet the public program guidelines: Increase employment by 20% or make capital investment in the KOZ equivalent to 10% of the company's gross annual revenue. Qualifying new customers will have two options: The first option is effective for a four year period, beginning approximately thirty days after the customer applies for the rider. This operation allows for a $.0135 per kilowatt-hour reduction of the Competitive Transition Charge (CTC) component of the appropriate rate. The second option is effective until December 31, 2010. This option allows for $.010 per kilowatt-hour reduction of the CTC charge. PECO will need authorization from the local KOZ administrator, verifying program compliance before the rate reduction can take place.
